The Immobile Cell can not be moved during the simulation. As a consequence, it can not be destroyed: the only ways of destroying a cell during simulation are pushing it into an enemy or a trash, which is impossible as it can not be pushed.

Uses in the community
In general, contraptions, the immobile cell is often used to block movers or generators, and generally plays a role in keeping the contraption from failing. Immobile cells can't be used in moving machines without leaving a trail. It is also frequently used for decoration purposes, i.e. making a wall around the machine to show its bounding box.
For puzzles, immobile cells are frequently used to make walls for the puzzle that aren't rectangular, and to block possible other paths that don't go through the obstacles.
In vaults, the Immobile Cell is used quite frequently as the majority of the composition of cells in a vault, along with trash cells. Immobile or trash cells are needed to prevent a vault from being can openable: they are also the only two cells that can make an impossible vault. When placed directly in front of the opening of a 1-gap vault, they make a pit vault or howole vault.
